A plain description of what TheBookBlurbs does and does not do with your information today.
No visitor accounts
Browsing TheBookBlurbs does not require an account, and the site does not offer visitor sign up, log in, password or email verification. We do not hold visitor passwords because there are none to hold. The only accounts on this website belong to the TheBookBlurbs administration team.
Information we collect
We hold information you choose to give us: the name, email address and message you send through the contact form, the details in an email you write to us, and the book and author details supplied by an author or representative enquiring about the Reading Challenge.
Contact form submissions
A contact form message is delivered by email to the TheBookBlurbs team and includes your name, your email address, your message and the date it was sent. We use it to reply to you and to follow up on anything you have asked for. You can ask us to delete a message at any time by writing to cindyvaneen@bookvera.online.
Book enquiries and catalogue records
Books are added to the catalogue by authorized administrators. When a book is included, the title, author name, description, genre and cover are shown publicly because that is the point of a discovery catalogue. The email address behind an enquiry is not published.
Reading Challenge participation and certificates
For participating books we store the author or participant name, the book title, the challenge period and a certificate number so a certificate can be checked later. Certificates are issued by the administration team.
Reader reviews
Reviews shown on the site display the reviewer name, the review text, the rating, the date and the genre exactly as supplied. Nothing is invented and no contact details are published alongside a review.
Email communication
Emails from TheBookBlurbs, including replies, book notifications and certificates, are sent through our verified sending domain by a third party email delivery service acting on our instructions.
Browser storage
Your reading list is saved in your own browser using local storage on the device you are using. It is not transmitted to us, it is not synchronised across devices, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Where information is held
Messages, enquiries and catalogue records are stored in the secure database that runs this site. Access is limited to the administration team, and administrative actions are logged.
Cover images and external links
Book covers may be loaded from public catalogue sources, and links to retailers open on third party websites. Those services have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Keeping and removing information
We keep messages, enquiry and certificate records for as long as they are needed. You can ask us to correct or remove your details, or to take a record off the public site, by writing to cindyvaneen@bookvera.online.
Children
TheBookBlurbs is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
